About Craniosacral Therapy

The cranial concept originates from the work of pioneering osteopath William Sutherland (1873-1954).

The craniosacral system consists of the bones of the cranium and sacrum, the central nervous system, the membranes and fluid that surround and protect the brain and the spinal cord as well as the fascia which envelops every organ, nerve, muscle and blood vessel throughout the body. By tuning into the craniosacral system with a light touch, the practitioner can observe restrictions in a person’s system whether on a physical, emotional or energetic level. The practitioner can then follow the subtle pulls of the body, gently encouraging it to unravel itself from patterns of restriction, holding and tension.

    What does a treatment involve?

  • Treatment takes place lying or sitting, fully clothed

  • With a light touch, I tune into the client's craniosacral system - especially at the head, heart, pelvis and feet.

  • Clients may experience deep relaxation, may feel energised and refreshed; treatment may help to identify the source of tensions and pain and begin to release old holding habits.

  •  A key benefit of the treatment is clients' developing awareness of themselves; their physical and emotional self, their life story and how it is held in their bodies…bringing self-compassion and gentleness to all that we experience.

Who is CST for?

Because Craniosacral Therapy is so gentle, it is suitable for all ages, babies, children and young people, adults - old or young. I work with a wide range of health issues - from musculoskeletal pain and injury, emotional issues, birth patterning, digestive issues as well as trauma and post-surgery support.

Craniosacral Therapy is not just for health challenges, it’s also a great way to stay healthy. Many clients come on a monthly basis to take time out from busy lives to rest, slow down and soften into a more natural rhythm. For those on a spiritual path, Craniosacral treatment supports all that is unfolding in the body - our shadow aspects, revelations of our true nature, our deepest longings and truths.
